I know I have stopped myself from trying out a new recipe with the fear of how it will destroy my kitchen. I’d love to hear some of your favorite tips for making your kitchen cleanup a breeze. To get the ideas flowing here are some things I do:
- Peel vegetables over a paper towel or directly over the trash can. Same with seeding peppers.
- Put a paper towel over the food being heated in the microwave to prevent splatters.
- Serve straight out of the pans on the stove instead of placing things on a plate.
- Go through a recipe and see what pots, pans and dishes you can use to make sure you are not using more then you should.
What do you do to keep your kitchen clean up quick and easy?
Keep soapy water in the sink basin for any lag-time – you can wash bigger dishes/pots while you wait. Likewise, make sure the dishwasher is empty before you start cooking so you can throw dirties right in.
If I’m really having a blow-out cooking/baking session, I keep a half-sheet pan handy, on the counter but out of the way. I try to use it to corral all dirty dishes on there, keeping the mess contained to one space.
Have you ever thought about using a compost bucket for kitchen scraps?
Great ideas! Never thought about a compost bucket for kitchen scraps! I think that is something I will have to do! Thanks for the advice!
